HISTORY
The ground on which this
church stands has been used for religious services for nearly 300 years.
It was first called "The Friends Meeting House" and was used by Quakers
dating from the 17th Century. However, after they moved to Easton, the
church grounds were turned over to the African American congregation of
the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1869, the former structure was built
and set up under the Delaware Conference. The Church Was named Scott after
the presiding Bishop, Levi Scott. Then in 1965, the church came under the
Peninsula-Delaware Conference and given the name it is called today -
Scotts United Methodist Church. In 1992, the structure was completely
renovated. Today it is a place where we can increase our ministries and
give a more effective service to the membership and to the community God
has called us to serve.
