The first building was built in 1781 on St. Mary's Square. It was named "Sardis Chapel" in 1812. By 1839, the church outgrew the original building and it was torn down, and a new building put in its place. By 1869, the second building was also outgrown. The people this time decided to build on Talbot Street at its current location. The present building was completed in April 1871. In 1954, Sardis Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church united with the Methodist Protestant Church and was renamed St. Luke's Methodist Church. PRESCHOOLSt. Luke's is proud of its preschool program.
